Pharmatag 2016 achieves record attendance

Every three years, representatives of leading pharma companies meet at Bosch Packaging Technology in Crailsheim, Germany, for Pharmatag – this year on May 10 and 11. General manager Joachim Brenner sums it up in a nutshell, “Pharmatag 2016 offered the 300 participants from all over the world a versatile mix of lectures, podium discussion and new technologies, thus underlining the importance of Bosch and the Crailsheim site for the industry – locally, regionally and internationally.”

Two days, many impressions
On day one, participants had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the production facility and to learn about new technologies. Amongst them was the first-time presentation of the ALF 5000, which safely fills and closes up to 600 ampoules per minute. Numerous further examples, including specific customer projects, showed how Bosch realizes pharmaceutical line competence. Apart from the different process steps, this also comprises topics such as Track & Trace, industry 4.0 application possibilities and after-sales services.

After the opening speech by Friedbert Klefenz, President of Bosch Packaging Technology, on day two, keynote speaker Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Bauernhansl, head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation, and the Institute of Industrial Manufacturing and Management at the University of Stuttgart, gave insights into the opportunities of industry 4.0 for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

In further lectures, representatives from AbbVie, Eli Lilly, NNE Pharmaplan, Roche Diagnostics and Vetter Pharma reported on unusual projects, current challenges and future trends. The podium discussion followed the motto of Pharmatag 2016 – „Competence in fill finish – quality meets flexibility“.

After Pharmatag is before Pharmatag. Accordingly, everybody involved in Crailsheim is already looking forward to the next edition of this successful event in 2019.
