Fluid bed processing has long been used in the Pharmaceutical and Chemical industries as a way of enhancing the characteristics of powders, drying products and applying a coating to the surface of particles or beads with active or functional compounds designed for controlling release of the product.

Over the last 60 years, a number of considerable developments have been made on the traditional top spraying fluid bed. Some of these differences, advantages and disadvantages have been compared and described below. Please click on the diagram below for the full view of the comparison. The final (fourth) column, showing Hüttlin Bottom spray, is the technology pioneered and produced by Bosch.
