Cluster merger strengthens competitiveness

In 2020, Bosch Packaging Technology will reinvent itself. With the planned acquisition by CVC Capital, the processing and packaging technology division will be separated from the Bosch Group and will operate as a medium-sized enterprise. This fits in perfectly with a new and exciting market development: the planned merger of Packaging Valley e.V. (PV) and Packaging Excellence Region Stuttgart e.V. (PEC) into a large joint network.

Bosch Packaging Technology has been a member of PEC for many years and is represented on the Board of Management by Dr. Johannes Rauschnabel, Director of Technology Pre-development & Innovation. “We welcome the merger and look forward to contributing our expertise to the expanded cluster as an active member,” said Dr. Rauschnabel. Together, the two networks unite around 100 members, consisting of world market leaders, family businesses, suppliers, universities and public institutions.

Achieving more together

Dr. Johannes Rauschnabel

Both networks enjoy an excellent reputation regionally and internationally. By bundling competencies and synergies, a new and even stronger packaging initiative will emerge and make the companies in this region even more competitive.

On the one hand, this involves tapping the regional labor market, one of the original founding reasons of PV. On the other hand, members will be able to expand their networks for the development of new technologies and standards – the main purpose of the PEC network.

When the new Packaging Valley Germany e.V. officially launches in mid-2020, the exchange between member companies will be intensified. But above all, the merger will increase the members’ external impact through joint trade show appearances, events or seminars. Dr. Johannes Rauschnabel is certain that “we will achieve much more together”.
